Admissions Consulting Service

Introduction

Professional MBA admissions consulting from top MBA admissions officers and graduates & journalist editors.

Welcome! Our admissions consulting service is dedicated to guiding our clients into their dream business schools.

Based in London and founded by an American top MBA graduate who first began advising on MBA admissions in 2001, we understand the global MBA landscape and has the skills to dramatically enhance anyone’s candidacy.

Uniquely among MBA admissions consultancies worldwide, our editorial team is staffed exclusively with business-savvy professional journalists. We strongly believe that only professional journalists, by virtue of their training in audience-focused, engaging writing, offer the editorial skill set perfectly suited to the specialized writing tasks involved in applying to business school.

At the heart of every AdmissionCritical engagement is our understanding that each client is unique, and that that uniqueness must resonate throughout the application.

See below the process we follow to ensure that the expression of your candidacy is the strongest it can be.

Phase I – Candidate Profiling & Initial Content Brainstorming

Client completes a standard questionnaire and provides an up-to-date full CV, with the objective of informing more probing questions in the profiling interview.
In-depth (~1hr but no fixed limit) profiling interview with the client (either over the phone or in person if convenient), with the objective of:
1. Getting a fuller view of the client’s candidacy for business school
2. Drawing out skills/accomplishments/experiences the value of which the client may be underestimating
3. Generating some useful ideas to be developed further in Phase II (see below)
Output: A concise summary of the client’s overall business school candidacy, including:
1. The applicant “segment” into which the client most likely fits, informing how the candidate can best “stand out”
2. How the client is positioned along key application dimensions
3. First ideas regarding essay content that will address the key marketing themes admissions committees want to see.

Phase II – Final Content Brainstorming

Phone discussion with client with the objective of a) developing essay content ideas for all main essay types, and b) agreeing which of those ideas are the most worthy of the client’s drafting time. If it can be done efficiently, this phase can sometimes be covered during the same interaction of Phase I.
Assuming the client is using the service to apply to more than one business school, we will analyse the degree of overlap among the main types of questions and advise which ones can safely be adapted for re-use with other schools.

Phase III – Drafting & Editing Iterations

Client writes first draft of all essays for one school.
Editing iterations begin, keeping in mind overlap among all the schools’ essays (assuming more than one).
Editing iterations (usually a maximum of four) continue until all essays for the first school are done.
Editing iterations continue until all essays for all remaining schools are done.
